Dhaka: The day-long Bangladesh AI Business Summit 2026 is set to be held in the capital on November 5, aiming to advance the country’s technology-driven economy and strengthen national capacity in artificial intelligence (AI).

The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) are jointly organising the summit at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam disclosed the details at a press conference at the ministry’s conference room on Tuesday (November 3).

He said President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had agreed to attend the inaugural session as the chief guest.

The theme of this year’s summit is “AI-fication for Tomorrow’s Economy”. The minister said the event was being organised against the backdrop of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the global economic transformation driven by artificial intelligence.

He said the central philosophy of the summit was to bring together people, businesses and AI.

Three thematic sessions will be held during the event. The first session, scheduled for noon, will focus on the trajectory of the AI revolution, policy, skills and infrastructure challenges.

The second session, also scheduled for noon, will discuss partnerships between academia and industry and strategies for technology transfer.

The third session, scheduled for 3:00pm, will examine the role of AI agents as digital co-workers and their applications in solving local problems.

Students from 19 universities and one college will also display their AI projects and prototypes.

Five foreign companies will participate in the summit, including one from the United States and four from Pakistan.

The minister said around 6,000 visitors and 2,000 invited guests were expected to attend the event. About 27 speakers and panellists, including local and international policymakers, industry experts, academics, researchers and corporate representatives, would take part.

At the press conference, Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain said the ministry’s activities were being pursued based on four key pillars.

These include promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education from primary to university levels; commercialising research findings; building links between researchers and investors; and advancing work in AI, semiconductors, biotechnology, nanotechnology, space research and the blue economy.

He also said Bangladesh had significant potential to establish biotechnology parks, which could create opportunities to employ talented graduates and develop new medicines and lifestyle-related products.

DCCI President Md Taskin Ahmed, senior officials of the Ministry of Science and Technology, including additional secretaries, and journalists were present at the press conference.
