Vehicles using the Dhaka Elevated Expressway will enjoy a six-hour toll-free facility on November 7, marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority announced the decision in a press release on Tuesday.

Under the arrangement, all vehicles using the expressway between 6:00am and 12:00pm on Saturday will be allowed to travel without paying tolls.

The facility will apply to all eligible vehicles during the specified period, offering commuters an opportunity to use the expressway free of charge.

The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is being constructed under a public-private partnership (PPP) initiative.

A section from Kawla, near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, to the FDC area is currently operational.

The expressway normally charges tolls at different rates depending on vehicle categories. Cars, taxis, SUVs and light vehicles are charged Tk 80, buses Tk 160, medium trucks Tk 320 and larger trucks Tk 400.

The expressway does not allow motorcycles, rickshaws or auto-rickshaws.

The toll-free facility will end at noon on November 7, after which regular toll collection will resume.
