Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply as Iran launched coordinated missile and drone strikes targeting US-linked assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, triggering warning sirens and widespread disruption across the region.
Iran’s military said the attacks were carried out in response to continued US strikes, which, according to US Central Command, entered their seventh consecutive night.
The US operations reportedly involved fighter jets, drones, and warships targeting Iran’s surveillance systems, logistics infrastructure, underground weapons facilities, and maritime capabilities.
Iranian targets included several southern and strategic locations such as Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, and Qeshm Island, along with other cities across the country.
Iranian state media reported casualties in Hormozgan province, near the critical Strait of Hormuz.
In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it struck key US-linked facilities, including a fuel support pier at Al-Ahmadi port in Kuwait and a gathering point for US aircraft at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
The IRGC also claimed to have hit a communications and intelligence centre in Bahrain.
The situation has disrupted civilian infrastructure as well. Kuwait Airways temporarily suspended operations at Kuwait International Airport, citing airspace closures and security concerns. Passengers have been advised to monitor updates as flights are rescheduled.
Meanwhile, US officials dismissed Iranian claims that oil tankers were destroyed by mines in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the reports false.
The rapidly intensifying conflict has heightened fears of broader regional instability, particularly given the strategic importance of the Gulf’s energy routes and infrastructure.
