Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday said he expects the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, HSIA, to be completed on schedule and inaugurated by December this year.
He made the remarks during a meeting with a Japanese delegation led by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Shimada Tomaki at the Prime Minister’s Office. The delegation also included JICA President Dr. Tanaka Akihiko, according to the PM’s Press Wing.
The two sides reviewed progress on several JICA-funded projects, including the Matarbari Deep Sea Port, MRT lines, and HSIA’s third terminal.
Japan also agreed in principle to Bangladesh’s request to raise its energy support package from $312 million to $500 million to help meet the country’s energy needs.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fast-track the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, EPA. The Japanese delegation further announced that Japan will provide five patrol boats to the Bangladesh Navy.
