Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir left Dhaka on Sunday afternoon to attend a regional summit on scam operations and transnational organised crime in Thailand.
The two-day summit, titled “Scam Center Compounds and Transnational Organized Crime,” will be held in Bangkok on July 20–21.
It is being organised by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in collaboration with the Royal Thai Police.
The meeting will focus on strengthening operational coordination, developing regional strategies and enhancing joint efforts to combat the growing threat of scam centres and cross-border criminal networks.
Police chiefs, intelligence heads and senior law enforcement officials from across the Asia-Pacific region are expected to take part.
During the visit, the IGP is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with his Thai counterpart to discuss issues of mutual interest, according to a police headquarters press release.
He is expected to return to Dhaka on July 22.
