The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun preparing an inventory of assets at the residence of former army officer Major General (dismissed) Ziaul Ahsan as part of the process to seize his properties.
Acting on a court order, an ACC team led by Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam started the inventory operation at Ziaul Ahsan’s residence in Dhaka on Monday (July 20).
On April 24 last year, a Dhaka court ordered the seizure of Ziaul Ahsan’s immovable assets worth Tk 157.765 million (Tk 15.77 crore).
The properties, located in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Barishal and Jhalakathi districts, include residential land, agricultural land, a garden house and apartments.
The court also ordered the freezing of Tk 12.8 million (Tk 1.28 crore) held in nine bank accounts in his name.
Meanwhile, on Sunday (July 19), the ACC also began an inventory of two Gulshan apartments owned by former Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed of the ousted Awami League government. The two flats are valued at around Tk 180 million (Tk 18 crore).
During the first day’s operation, officials listed more than 300 coats, 532 ties, over 100 shirts, eight watch boxes (including four Rolex boxes), keys to luxury vehicles, three pearl sets, four chandeliers, beds and sofas.
