Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has said it is closely monitoring reports circulating in the media and on social media regarding Gazi Nazrul Islam, the party’s lawmaker from Satkhira-4, and will take appropriate organisational action after verifying the facts.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, assistant secretary general and secretary of the party’s Central Publicity and Media Department, said Jamaat is reviewing the allegations and gathering relevant information before making any decision.
He said statements from Gazi Nazrul Islam, his first and second wives, as well as a video statement from the father of his second wife, have already been published by various media outlets.
The party said it would conduct a thorough inquiry, collect factual evidence, and take necessary action in accordance with its organisational rules once the verification process is complete.
