Veteran Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah has expressed anger over the Delhi Police’s baton charge on protesters participating in the ‘Chalo Sansad’ (March to Parliament) programme organised by the Kakaroch Janata Party (CJP).
A day after the incident, the National Film Award-winning actor voiced his outrage in a video message. The video was posted on the CJP’s social media accounts late Tuesday night (July 21).
Speaking in Urdu, Shah said, “If a fool leads a country, he will want the entire nation to become as ignorant, thoughtless, incompetent and ruthless as he is.”
Expressing anger over the police action against students in Delhi, Shah said, “I am furious to see how these goons (police) are treating children so brutally.”
With a heavy heart, Shah added, “At this moment, my heart is heavy, and at the same time, I am burning with anger. I am deeply hurt by the way our children are being treated. Those carrying out this oppression remind me of ICE agents in the United States — masked faces and batons in their hands. Sometimes, think about your own children. Remember that one day you too will have to face the consequences of your actions.”
