Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed on Sunday paid tribute at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in the capital.
At around 12:30 pm, he laid wreaths at the graves in honour of the two former national leaders.
State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain accompanied the acting president during the visit.
Security was tightened in and around Zia Udyan ahead of the acting president’s arrival, with a large number of law enforcement personnel deployed to ensure safety.
Earlier in the day, at around 11:30 am, Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed paid tribute to the martyrs of Bangladesh’s Liberation War by laying a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.
