Six people were killed and at least 15 others injured in a road accident on the Bogura-Naogaon highway early Friday.
The accident occurred around 5:30am in the Erulia Silkibandha area of Bogura, police said.
According to police, a passenger bus travelling from Dhaka to Naogaon lost control and crashed into an electricity pole beside the highway. The bus then ran over several day labourers who were waiting for work in the area.
Three people died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries after being taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
Three of the deceased were identified as Amirul, Nur Alam and Belal Hossain, all day labourers and farm workers from Gaibandha.
The injured were rescued with the help of local residents and taken to the hospital. Several of them are reportedly in critical condition.
Police and fire service personnel continued rescue operations at the scene.
