Three people, including a father and his son, were killed and two others injured when a goods-laden truck rammed into another truck that was parked for repairs on the Dhaka-Bogura highway in Bogura on Sunday.

The accident occurred around 7:30am on the flyover in front of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SHJMEC) Hospital in the Chilimpur area of Bogura.

The deceased were identified as Tapas Sarker and his son Tibrro Sarker, residents of Ramchandrapur village in Sherpur upazila of Bogura. The identity of the third victim could not be confirmed immediately.

According to local residents and Fire Service officials, a truck carrying cattle feed was travelling from Dhaka towards Hili Land Port in Joypurhat. When it reached the flyover in front of SHJMEC Hospital, one of its rear tyres burst.

The driver and several others then stopped on the road to repair the tyre. At that time, another goods-laden truck travelling in the same direction lost control and crashed into the rear of the stationary truck at high speed.

Tapas and his son Tibrro, who were repairing the truck, died on the spot. Two others were injured in the crash.

Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel rescued the injured and took them to SHJMEC Hospital, where one of them later died while undergoing treatment.

Shahjahan Siraj, deputy assistant director of Bogura Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed that three people were killed and two others injured in the accident.
