Four bikers killed in C’nawabganj road accidents

Four motorcyclists were killed in two separate road accidents in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj on Tuesday.

The accidents occurred in Muslimpur early in the morning and in front of Kansat Soleman Degree College in the afternoon.

The deceased were Abu Hayat, 35, and Habibur Rahman, 20, who were killed in the morning accident, and Asad Ali, 18, and Jaber Ali, 19, who died in the afternoon crash.

Police and locals said Hayat and Habibur were returning home from Kansat around 5am after work when their motorcycle lost control near a culvert on the Muslimpur-Takshaldighi road and crashed into an under-construction culvert. They fell into a ditch and were taken to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead.

In the afternoon, Asad and Jaber were killed when their motorcycle collided head-on with a truck in the Kansat area while they were trying to overtake another truck. Asad died on the spot, while Jaber died on the way to hospital.

Shibganj police said the bodies of Hayat and Habibur had been handed over to their families, while the bodies of Asad and Jaber would be handed over after completion of legal procedures.

Meanwhile, a bicycle rider was killed in another road accident in Atahar area of Chapainawabganj Sadar on Monday night.

The victim, identified as Kazim, 35, was hit by an unidentified vehicle. He was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
