The bodies of seven Bangladeshi workers from Naogaon who were killed in a fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will arrive in Bangladesh on Thursday, August 27.
The bodies are scheduled to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 4:00pm aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, according to the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh.
The seven workers were among 16 Bangladeshis killed in the fire at the Riyadh sofa factory. Saudi authorities later identified nine of the victims through fingerprint analysis, including the seven from Naogaon.
The deceased from Naogaon have been identified as Md Farid, Rubel Pramanik, Mohan Ali, Sumon Ali, Kolimuddin, Sohel Rana and Abdul Jalil Sardar.
All seven were from Atrai upazila of Naogaon.
The relevant authorities in Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia completed the necessary formalities for repatriating the bodies.
Local administration officials said they have also been coordinating with the victims’ families and arranging ambulances to transport the bodies to their respective homes.
The fire, which broke out at the sofa factory in Riyadh on August 9, claimed the lives of 16 Bangladeshi workers.
The government has been taking steps to bring the victims’ remains back to Bangladesh.
