Five children drowned while bathing in the Mora Pagla River in Char Chakla village of Debinagar union under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila on Friday (August 28).
Local Union Parishad member Mojibur Rahman said several children had entered the river to bathe when five of them drowned one after another. Locals later attempted to rescue them.
Ekaramul Haque, officer-in-charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station, said police were sent to the scene after receiving the news.
