Two coaches of the intercity Tista Express became detached after their coupling hook broke while the train was travelling through Gafargaon in Mymensingh on Tuesday morning.

The incident temporarily disrupted train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route. No casualties were reported.

The incident occurred around 10:15am between Kaoraid and Moshakhali railway stations in Gafargaon upazila.

The Tista Express had left Dhaka for Dewanganj in the morning. When the train reached the area between the two stations, the coupling hook connecting two coaches suddenly broke, separating coaches ‘N’ and ‘T’.

The driver noticed the problem and immediately stopped the train, preventing a potentially serious accident. Passengers got off the train after the coaches became detached.

Mymensingh Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aktar Hossain confirmed the incident.

He said railway workers were repairing the damaged coupling hook and the train would resume its journey to Dewanganj once the repair was completed.

Railway authorities were also working to restore normal train movement on the route as soon as possible. Other trains using the Dhaka-Mymensingh line could face temporary delays because of the disruption.
