Bright Four Laboratory School in Kadamtala, Basabo, in the capital, organised a merit scholarship and award ceremony on Saturday to honour students who passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
Each student from the SSC-2026 batch who achieved a GPA of 5 received a crest and a cash scholarship of Tk 10,000 at the programme held at the school auditorium.
Speakers at the ceremony said educational institutions play an important role in building an enlightened society by nurturing students’ knowledge of science and technology, as well as their moral values and intellectual excellence.
The programme was chaired by Engineer Md Matiur Rahman, chairman of the school’s governing body.
Among the invited guests who spoke were Sahab Uddin Ahmad, a director at the National University; journalist Shaheen Hasnat; Principal Md Monaem Hossain; Advocate Md Rezaul Karim; SM Alamgir Kabir; and Advocate Md Parvez Hossain.

Senior teacher Shirina Begum moderated the event. Students Maimuna Hossain, Sabiha Afrin Tanisha, Roja Mehezabin Pragya, Afifa Noman Maisha and Tamima Akter Dighi, among others, spoke at the programme. Parent representatives Mohammad Arifuzzaman Shyamol and Abu Zafar Mohammad Mohiuddin also addressed the gathering.
Founded in 2004 with the motto “Enlightened People, Enlightened Country”, Bright Four Laboratory School has established itself as a recognised educational institution in the area. The school has also introduced an English version of the national curriculum, which is progressing successfully, according to the press release.
Speakers expressed their commitment to developing the school into a centre of excellence by forming a parents’ forum and an alumni organisation involving former students.
The programme also featured songs, poetry recitations and greetings from students, creating a festive atmosphere on the school premises with teachers, students and parents in attendance.
