The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday said a security operation is continuing in the remote Retlang area of Bandarban following a raid on a hideout allegedly used by armed groups.
According to an ISPR press release, the operation stems from a special raid carried out on June 28 targeting a joint hideout of the Kuki-Chin National Army and the United People’s Democratic Front in the rugged Retlang area.
The ISPR said members of the armed groups fled the hideout after sensing the presence of security forces, leading to an exchange of fire between the two sides.
Security personnel are continuing the operation in the surrounding areas to pursue the fleeing members of the armed groups, the statement added.
The military’s media wing said no further operational details could be disclosed at this stage for security reasons and that comprehensive information would be shared once the operation concludes.
The ISPR also urged all concerned to refrain from spreading misleading information or propaganda regarding the ongoing operation.
