139 confirmed measles cases in 24 hours

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday reported 139 new confirmed measles cases and 968 suspected cases across the country during the 24-hour period ending at 8:00am on Thursday.

According to the latest DGHS data, a total of 87,262 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide since 15 March. Of them, 83,543 patients have recovered and been discharged.

During the past 24 hours, no deaths from confirmed measles were reported. However, five deaths linked to suspected measles cases were recorded during the same period.

Since 15 March, the cumulative number of deaths associated with suspected measles cases has risen to 636, while the total number of fatalities from laboratory-confirmed measles cases has reached 93.

Health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have urged the public to remain vigilant and seek medical attention promptly if measles symptoms appear.
