An investigation report has been submitted against eight individuals, including former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. A S M Maksud Kamal and noted academic Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, over alleged attacks on students during the July mass movement.

The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) submitted a draft probe report to the prosecution on Thursday, accusing the individuals of crimes against humanity.

According to the report, organized attacks, abuse, incitement, and acts of violence were carried out against protesting students on the Dhaka University campus during the July 2024 uprising. It noted that preliminary evidence has been found to support allegations of crimes against humanity against the accused.

Other individuals named in the report include teacher K M Jamal Uddin, former judge A H M Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, and former Bangladesh Chhatra League general secretary Wali Asif Inan, among others.

Sources involved in the investigation said the prosecution will now review the report. After necessary revisions and legal verification, a decision will be made on filing formal charges before the ICT.

The case is part of a broader set of investigations into multiple allegations related to violence on the Dhaka University campus during the July mass protests.
