Police arrested an alleged robber and listed criminal, known as “Red Munna”, during a special operation in the Pallabi area of the capital on Saturday and recovered a locally made sharp weapon from his possession.
The arrested individual was identified as Md Munna, alias Red Munna, 36.
According to police, Munna was arrested at around 2:30 pm during a raid conducted in the Bawniabad Muchipara area under Pallabi Police Station.
Officials said a team from Pallabi Police Station carried out the operation based on a tip-off in Section-11 of Bawniabad Muchipara.
During the raid, police recovered a locally made sharp knife from the accused’s possession.
Police sources said that Munna is a listed criminal and has at least 10 cases pending before various courts.
The cases include allegations of narcotics offences, extortion, theft, assault, attempted murder, and violence against women and children.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused in connection with the latest arrest, police said.
Law enforcement officials added that such special drives will continue as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in the area.
