Around 1.2 million answer scripts have so far been submitted for re-scrutiny by students dissatisfied with their SSC and equivalent examination results, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after an event at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka, the minister said the number of applications could rise further as the re-scrutiny application process ends on Monday.

“I checked the situation yesterday. From what I learned, it seems almost every student wants their answer scripts re-evaluated. This cannot continue like this,” Milan said.

He said the government was considering introducing new guidelines for answer-script re-scrutiny, including criteria on the GPA or other conditions under which students would be eligible to apply.

The SSC and equivalent examination results were published on August 10, with the average pass rate across all education boards standing at 62.25 percent.

Applications for re-scrutiny opened on August 11 and are scheduled to close on August 17.

Education board officials said the number of applications could reach around 1.3 million based on the overall trend and the volume of requests received so far.
