A joint forces team conducted a special operation at suspected hideouts of criminals in the Jungle Salimpur area of Sitakunda in Chattogram on Wednesday, searching places believed to be used as safe havens by terrorists and other criminals.
The operation was carried out from 4:30pm to 7pm in the Alinagar and Chhinnamul areas, where the forces searched suspected hideouts, suspicious locations and crime-prone areas.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Chattogram District Police Superintendent Md Masud Alam and led by Additional Superintendent of Police Junaet Kawsar. Personnel from the district police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) took part in the drive.
Additional Superintendent of Police Junaet Kawsar said the main objectives of the operation were to dismantle criminal hideouts in Jungle Salimpur, take a firm stance against criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents and uninterrupted normal life in the area.
The law enforcement agencies also warned local residents against providing shelter or support to terrorists or criminals. They urged residents to share information about criminal activities and cooperate with the authorities.
The district police said coordinated operations against terrorism, drug trafficking, extortion and other criminal activities in Jungle Salimpur would continue.
