Bangladesh reported 196 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections this year to 7,306, while no new deaths were recorded during the period.
The figures were released on Tuesday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the latest report, Barishal Division recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions with 66 cases, followed by Dhaka Division, including the two city corporations, with 52 cases. Chattogram Division reported 41 cases, Khulna 21, Mymensingh 8, Rajshahi 6, and Sylhet 2. No new patients were admitted in Rangpur Division during the period.
Since January 1, a total of 7,306 dengue cases have been recorded nationwide. Dhaka Division, including the capital, has reported the highest number of infections at 2,570, followed by Barishal with 1,931, Chattogram 1,318, Khulna 905, Rajshahi 258, Mymensingh 224, Sylhet 68, and Rangpur 32.
The death toll from dengue this year remains at 19. Of the fatalities, eight were reported in Dhaka Division, five in Mymensingh, three in Chattogram, and one each in Barishal, Khulna, and Rajshahi.
During the past 24 hours, 139 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries this year to 6,676.
A total of 611 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals across the country, including 141 in Dhaka city.
