The government has approved increasing the bed capacity of the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) in Dhaka from 500 to 700 to expand treatment services for cancer patients.

The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued an order in this regard on Wednesday (September 16) through its Government Health Management-1 branch.

The order, signed by Deputy Secretary Kazi Sharif Uddin Ahmed, approved the increase in bed capacity and the launch of services with the additional 200 beds.

The administrative approval was granted following concurrence from the Finance Division and is subject to compliance with all relevant rules, regulations and formalities.

The order also instructed the hospital authorities to follow all applicable procedures in launching services with the additional beds.

NICRH is one of the country’s key specialised government facilities providing cancer treatment.
