The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on Wednesday launched a free shuttle service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to ensure safer, faster and more convenient travel for passengers.
The service was inaugurated by HSIA Executive Director Group Captain S.M. Ragib Samad at a ceremony held in front of the airport’s canopy.
Funded by CAAB, the shuttle service will operate free of charge on three routes: Airport-Airport Bus Stand, Jasim Uddin Intersection-Airport Railway Station, and Kawla-Airport.
The initiative is aimed at providing passengers with seamless connectivity between key transport hubs around the airport.
Airport authorities said the service would be particularly beneficial for elderly passengers, women, children, people with disabilities and travellers carrying heavy luggage.
They also expect the shuttle service to reduce dependence on private vehicles, ease traffic congestion around the airport, promote environmentally friendly transportation and improve the overall quality of passenger services.
Speaking at the inauguration, Group Captain Ragib Samad said CAAB has been implementing a series of passenger-friendly initiatives to improve service standards at the country’s busiest international airport.
“The free shuttle service is another step towards ensuring world-class airport services by making passenger movement safer, more comfortable and time-efficient,” he said.
He added that the initiative reflects CAAB’s commitment to its passenger-first policy and would contribute to improving the overall travel experience.
Senior CAAB officials, airport authorities and representatives of various stakeholder organisations attended the inauguration ceremony.
