A Dhaka court has rejected the bail petition of actor Ashraful Haque Don, a named accused in the murder case of popular Bangladeshi film star Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Manzurul Islam passed the order on Monday after hearing a bail petition filed on Don’s behalf by lawyer Mofizul Islam Aslam.
Don was arrested by immigration officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 5am on August 9. A court later granted police five days to interrogate him on August 27.
After the remand, he was sent to jail on September 9 and has remained in custody since then. His bail petitions have been rejected several times.
According to the case statement, Salman Shah, whose real name was Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar Emon, was allegedly killed in a premeditated conspiracy involving the other named accused and unidentified individuals on September 6, 1996.
