Additional police have been deployed at BRAC University following an email threatening a bomb attack on the private university, authorities said.
Police presence was increased on the campus from Monday evening (October 5) after the threat was received, according to police.
Badda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Md Nasirul Amin said the deployment was made as a precautionary security measure. Police presence would be further strengthened on Tuesday, he added.
Besides local police, several intelligence agencies are investigating the threat, the officer said.
The threatening email reportedly warned of a bomb attack at the university on Tuesday (October 6), allegedly at around 11am.
Police and security agencies are examining the credibility and source of the threat and have taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff.
Authorities have not reported any actual explosion or confirmed the presence of explosives on the campus.
