The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has decided to send 180 officials to different upazilas and police station areas across the country to assess the implementation of primary education programmes on the ground.
The officials will visit primary education offices and government primary schools in their assigned areas and review and monitor overall activities.
The initiative was taken following a decision at the DPE’s monthly coordination meeting for August. An office order issued on September 28 listed the officials and their assigned upazilas and police station areas.
According to the order, the officials must complete their field visits and submit reports by November 5.
The director general, additional director general and directors of the DPE may visit any upazila, while officials from different divisions of the directorate have been assigned specific areas for inspection.
The assigned areas include upazilas in districts such as Joypurhat, Bogura, Naogaon, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Natore, Sirajganj, Pabna, Kushtia, Meherpur, Chuadanga and Jhenaidah.
Officials must obtain prior approval from their respective divisional directors before undertaking the field visits.
Officials from the DPE’s stipend division will visit the primary education office and three government primary schools in their assigned areas. Using random sampling, they will select one urban and two rural schools for inspection and stay in the area for two days.
Officials from other divisions will visit two government primary schools—one urban and one rural—selected through random sampling. They will spend one day in the field reviewing the schools’ activities.
After each visit, the officials must prepare a detailed report in a prescribed format and submit it to the DPE’s stipend division within five working days of completing the inspection.
A copy of proof of report submission must also be attached to their TA/DA claims.
According to the office order, officials will receive TA/DA from their respective salary heads in accordance with existing rules. Officials working on attachment at the DPE will collect their TA/DA claims from the relevant field offices.
DPE Director (Joint Secretary) Md Masud Hossain signed the office order on Monday, October 5.
