India’s Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push seven people into Bangladesh through the Naogaon and Joypurhat border areas on Tuesday morning.
The incidents took place at Sonadanga in Naogaon’s Sapahar upazila and Koria along the Joypurhat Sadar border, according to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The seven people are currently staying at the zero line along the border, officials said.
Lieutenant Colonel Ehsan Habib, commander of BGB’s 14 Battalion in Patnitala, confirmed the incidents.
He said the BSF attempted to push three people into Bangladesh through the Koria border area of Joypurhat Sadar in the morning.
“After receiving the information, a BGB patrol team went to the area and foiled the attempt,” he said.
At the same time, the BSF attempted to push four people into Bangladesh through the Sonadanga border area of Sapahar in Naogaon, he said.
“We have learned that the four are members of the same family,” the BGB commander said.
He said BGB personnel remained on alert in the border areas and discussions were underway with the BSF to send the seven people back to India.
“The seven people are currently at the zero line,” he added.
