A delegation of 17 judges from subordinate courts and six lawyers will travel to Japan to participate in a training programme on ensuring access to justice and expanding legal services.
Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the training will be held from November 1 to 14.
The information was disclosed in a notification issued by the Planning Branch of the Law and Justice Division under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on October 7.
The 23-member delegation includes judges, officials from the Law and Justice Division, Supreme Court administration officials, legal aid officials and lawyers from district bar associations.
The participants include Narsingdi District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Humayun Kabir, Cumilla District and Sessions Judge Md Hemayet Uddin, Director General of the National Legal Aid Services Organization Md Manzurul Hossain, Joint Secretary of the Law and Justice Division Md Masum Billah, and other judicial and ministry officials.
Six lawyers from the Narsingdi and Cumilla district bar associations are also part of the delegation.
The notification said the period of travel and training would be treated as official duty.
JICA will bear all expenses related to the trip, and the Bangladesh government will incur no expenditure in local or foreign currency.
The delegation is scheduled to leave for Japan on or around November 1 and return home after completing the training on November 14.
