Around 10,000 members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be deployed to help ensure security at Durga Puja venues in border areas from October 16 to 22.
The deployment is part of nationwide security measures taken by law enforcement agencies ahead of the Hindu religious festival, according to a message issued by BGB headquarters late Monday night.
BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam said the force would provide security support at 2,727 Puja mandaps located within eight kilometres of the border, as well as in areas near BGB battalion headquarters.
The deployment aims to strengthen security at the festival venues and help ensure peaceful celebrations during Durga Puja.
