DHAKA: Bangladesh has expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia following recent attacks on civilian infrastructure in the kingdom that killed several innocent people, including two Bangladeshi nationals.
Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ambassador M J H Javed, conveyed the message of solidarity during a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s newly appointed Permanent Representative to the OIC, Ambassador Khalid bin Ismail bin Badawi bin Hussein Al Sharif, on Tuesday (October 13).
The two diplomats discussed the upcoming 52nd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), scheduled to be held in Baghdad.
The Saudi ambassador highly praised the government and people of Bangladesh for standing by Saudi Arabia in the face of Houthi attacks that violate international law.
He also assured Saudi Arabia’s full support for the repatriation of Rohingya refugees. He noted that an anticipated favourable ruling by the International Court of Justice on the determination of responsibility for genocide would set a historic precedent in international human rights law.
Both sides agreed to coordinate efforts across various OIC forums on key issues, including trade and financing, agriculture, healthcare, and science and technology.
