Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman held bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday, focusing on Rohingya repatriation, transport connectivity, investment, energy and broader economic cooperation.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
According to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers held extensive discussions on advancing the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries under the framework of the China-Bangladesh Community with a Shared Future.
The talks covered a wide range of bilateral issues, including efforts to facilitate the safe and sustainable repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar, the development of transport corridors, increased Chinese investment, energy cooperation and expanding economic ties.
The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir was also present at the meeting.
