Bangladesh is awaiting a defining national moment in the technological arena akin to the historic ‘Sputnik Moment’.
Posts, Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam considers the ongoing National Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR Summit at Novotheatre as a national call to action for the younger generation.
He stated, “Made in Bangladesh will no longer remain just an identity for garments; rather, it will become the symbol of world-class chips, artificial intelligence, advanced technology, and deep-tech innovation.”
On July 26, Sunday, the Minister delivered these remarks in his inaugural address at a special session titled ‘The Future of Deep-Tech in Bangladesh’ on the closing day of the two-day summit.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s vision to build a ‘Tech-Self-Reliant Deep-Tech Bangladesh’, the Minister noted that the government is giving special emphasis to semiconductors, advanced chip design, robotics, photonics, bio-electronics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
Fakir Mahbub Anam added, “We want Bangladeshi youth not merely to use world technologies, but to create the world’s next technologies.
This BEAR Summit has proven that Bangladesh is not alone. Leading global tech firms, universities, industry leaders, non-resident Bangladeshis, and experts are joining us. Therefore, this is not just a conference; it is the inception of a movement.”
Addressing the business leaders present at the event, the Minister assured, “The government is extremely business-friendly.
You will find me by your side in any need. We will do everything necessary to create opportunities for you and drive the country’s technological advancement.”
