bKash has completed the country’s largest deployment of Bangla QR, enabling cashless payments at more than 800,000 merchant outlets nationwide in line with Bangladesh Bank’s initiative to expand the digital payment ecosystem.

The mobile financial services provider said the nationwide rollout was completed within the timeline set by the central bank through significant investment and enhanced operational capacity. The move allows customers to make payments not only through the bKash app but also using other compatible digital wallets by scanning a single Bangla QR code.

The company said its merchant payment network is now processing transactions worth more than Tk 200 crore on average every day, reflecting the growing adoption of digital payments across the country.

The Bangla QR network has been introduced across a wide range of businesses, including grocery shops, pharmacies, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, lifestyle outlets and major retail chains, making cashless transactions more convenient for consumers.

To encourage wider use of digital payments, bKash has launched promotional offers at 45,000 merchant outlets. Customers paying through the bKash app by scanning Bangla QR will be eligible for cashback and discount coupons worth up to Tk 10,000.

The company has also introduced several innovations to improve the merchant payment experience. It has become the first digital financial service provider in Bangladesh to deploy digital payment speakers, enabling merchants to receive instant audio confirmation of successful transactions, reducing payment time and enhancing security.

In another initiative aimed at supporting small businesses, bKash has partnered with BRAC Bank to pilot instant short-term digital loans for merchants. Under the programme, eligible merchants can access collateral-free financing directly through their merchant accounts based on their transaction history and merchant ratings.

As Bangladesh moves towards a cashless economy, bKash said it will continue promoting digital payments through cashback campaigns, discounts and merchant-focused services, helping strengthen the country’s digital financial ecosystem while expanding access to secure and convenient payment solutions.
