Heavy rain lashed the capital from early Tuesday, causing severe inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians while triggering waterlogging in several low-lying areas of the city.
The downpour began before dawn and continued through the morning under the influence of an active monsoon, leaving many roads partially submerged and slowing traffic across Dhaka.
Office-goers, students and other commuters struggled to reach their destinations as vehicles moved slowly through rain-soaked streets.
Many pedestrians were forced to wade through ankle-deep water, while public transport services experienced delays.
The rain is expected to bring some respite from the recent spell of high temperatures.
However, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast more rainfall in Dhaka and other parts of the country as monsoon activity remains active.
