Dhaka: The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center of the Water Development Board has said that short-term flooding may occur in some areas of the northern part of the country due to the influence of active monsoon winds and heavy rains from the upstream.
According to the Flood Forecasting Center on Tuesday (August 11), there is a risk of flooding in the low-lying areas of Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari and Rangpur districts due to the increase in water levels in the rivers belonging to the Teesta basin. Water may flow close to or above the danger level, especially in the low-lying areas along the river banks in these areas.
According to relevant sources, the water level of rivers is increasing due to continuous rainfall in the interior and upstream of the country. In this situation, people living along the banks of rivers in vulnerable areas have been advised to be vigilant and follow the instructions of the local administration.
