The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked the country’s four seaports to keep the No. 3 local warning signal hoisted.
According to the department, the land depression over the coastal area of West Bengal and adjoining regions has moved west-northwestward and is currently located over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal.
The system may move further west-northwestward and gradually weaken. Under its influence, gusty winds may sweep across the seaports, the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The information was disclosed in a weather warning issued Friday morning.
The warning said Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been advised to keep the No. 3 local warning signal hoisted.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal have also been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
