A new low-pressure system has formed over the sea, potentially making conditions rough. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal to remain close to the coast and operate cautiously until further notice.
The weather office issued the warning on Sunday (August 16), saying a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas.
Under its influence, gusty winds may sweep across the maritime ports, the North Bay and coastal areas of Bangladesh, potentially making the sea rough.
Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra ports have been advised to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been instructed to remain near the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
Fishermen have also been advised to closely monitor weather conditions and remain prepared to return to safe shelter quickly if necessary.
