Rain accompanied by gusty winds may continue across most parts of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, for the next 10 days as the monsoon remains moderately active over the North Bay of Bengal.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in a forecast issued on Thursday (August 27) that a low-pressure system over the Bay moved northwestward and merged with the monsoon trough, strengthening monsoon activity.

According to the forecast, many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and some areas of Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds by 9am on Friday (August 28). Some places may also receive moderately heavy rain.

Rain and thunderstorms may continue in many parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet and some areas of the other divisions during the following 24 hours. Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.

From Saturday through Monday, rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are likely in many areas across all eight divisions. Some places may experience moderate to very heavy rainfall, while temperatures may fall slightly.

The weather department said the rainy trend may continue during the following five days as well.
