Rainfall is expected to increase across different parts of Bangladesh today, with the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasting moderate to very heavy rainfall in some areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

According to the 24-hour forecast issued on Monday (June 29) evening, many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and a few places in Dhaka and Khulna divisions, may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds.

The BMD also said that moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Day and night temperatures across the country may fall slightly, the forecast added.
In its latest 24-hour outlook, valid until Tuesday (June 30) evening, the weather office said many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, as well as a few places in Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions, are likely to receive rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is also possible in parts of the country.

The BMD said the axis of a low-pressure area extends from Gangetic West Bengal to the northwestern Bay of Bengal. The southwest monsoon is active over the northern part of Bangladesh and remains fairly active elsewhere across the country, while it is weak to moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal.
