The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in Dhaka and nine other regions of the country.
In a weather warning issued on Thursday, the BMD said winds could reach speeds of up to 60 km/h in the affected areas through the afternoon.
The regions likely to experience rain and gusty winds include Dhaka, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali and Sylhet.
The weather office advised river ports in these areas to hoist Cautionary Signal No. 1.
The BMD said the adverse weather may be accompanied by lightning and urged people, particularly those engaged in river transport and outdoor activities, to remain cautious.
The latest forecast comes as monsoon conditions continue to influence weather across Bangladesh, bringing intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms to different parts of the country.
