At least two more people were killed in Russian strikes on Ukraine early Saturday, while the death toll from a devastating drone attack on a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih rose to 16, according to Ukrainian authorities.
One person was killed in a warehouse fire in Kyiv following a ballistic missile alert, while another died in a Russian drone strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia, local officials said.
The latest attacks came a day after Russian drones struck a busy shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s hometown, in what Ukrainian officials described as a two-wave or “double-tap” attack.
At least 16 people were killed and more than 130 injured in the shopping-centre strike, including 22 children.
Nine people, including two children, remained missing as rescue teams continued searching the wreckage.
The second wave of the attack reportedly came about 30 minutes after the initial strike, when emergency workers were responding to the damage and fires.
Ukrainian officials condemned the attack and accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians and rescuers.
The Russian military has not publicly commented on the strike.
