A Yemeni resident was killed and two others injured on Thursday after debris from a Houthi drone fell in Saudi Arabia’s Taif governorate following its interception and destruction, Saudi Civil Defence said.
The victim was a Yemeni national residing in Saudi Arabia, while a Saudi citizen and a Pakistani resident were injured. The Pakistani national was in critical condition, according to Saudi authorities.
The falling debris also damaged several buildings and vehicles.
The incident comes amid renewed tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement. Saudi Arabia said on Wednesday that it had intercepted a drone headed towards Mecca. The Houthis denied targeting the holy city.
The Saudi Civil Defence statement did not provide further details on the timing or circumstances of the drone’s launch.
