Yemen’s internationally recognised government forces have claimed that 1,540 Houthi fighters were killed or wounded during 474 military operations over the past 24 hours.

Military spokesman Maj Gen Majed Abdullah al-Nazili said the operations targeted Houthi positions, movements, reinforcements and command centres across several fronts, using warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles and rocket launchers.

The heaviest fighting was reported in Taiz province.

According to the spokesman, the operations also destroyed or damaged 216 military vehicles and other military assets and halted Houthi advances in Taiz.

The operations were conducted across areas including Haradh, the western coast, Kitaf, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahj, Sanaa and Saada.

The Yemeni military’s casualty figures could not be independently verified, and the Houthis had not immediately responded to the claims.

The latest escalation follows 20 airstrikes carried out by Yemeni government forces against Houthi targets in Taiz earlier on Friday, according to the military.
