Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has warned that any fresh US attack on Iran would trigger a much broader retaliation.
In a message marking the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance, Khamenei said Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on US military bases in the Middle East were responses to Washington’s military actions.
He warned that any repetition of such aggression would lead to retaliation on a much wider scale.
Khamenei also praised Iran’s allied armed groups in the Middle East, including those in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen, describing their actions as “wise and powerful acts of heroism”.
He said recent developments had exposed the limitations of US military power and called for strengthening Iran’s defence capabilities.
“The only way to ensure full deterrence is to continue the strategy of building a stronger Iran through comprehensive development,” he said.
