Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 431 people during its regular operations across the capital over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 70 cases were filed.
The information was confirmed on Sunday (August 2) morning by DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Niaz Mehdi.
He said police conducted raids in different police station areas across the city, leading to the arrests and the seizure of narcotics. Legal proceedings against the detainees are currently underway.
According to the DMP, officers recovered one foreign-made pistol, two empty magazines, 230 grams of cannabis, 14,142 yaba tablets, 156 grams of heroin, 31 mobile phones, one private car, one old camera, and rescued one victim during the operations.
Among those arrested, 39 were detained by the Ramna Division, 24 by the Lalbagh Division, 45 by the Wari Division, 40 by the Motijheel Division, 79 by the Tejgaon Division, 101 by the Mirpur Division, 44 by the Gulshan Division, 47 by the Uttara Division, nine by the Detective Branch (DB), and three by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit.
