DMP arrests 416 in 24-hour anti-crime drive

A total of 416 people were arrested in regular raids conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital over the past 24 hours. During the operations, various types of drugs, ammunition, mobile phones and cash were recovered.

Police also filed 30 cases during the same period.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain disclosed the information on Monday (August 31).

He said 38 people were arrested in the Ramna Division, 26 in Lalbagh, 40 in Wari, 48 in Motijheel, 49 in Tejgaon, 125 in Mirpur, 40 in Gulshan and 50 in Uttara.

During the raids, police recovered 17 rounds of shotgun ammunition, three rounds of Chinese rifle ammunition, 5 kg 180 grams of cannabis, 2,683 yaba tablets, 2.04 grams of crushed yaba tablets, nine mobile phones, Tk 280,490 in cash and rescued one victim.

He further said the items and narcotics were recovered during raids conducted in various police station areas across the capital. The individuals involved were subsequently arrested.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway, the DMP official added.
