DHAKA: A total of 465 people were arrested in regular raids conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 45 cases were filed.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Niaz Mehedi disclosed the information on Wednesday morning.
He said police conducted raids in different police station areas across the capital and made the arrests after recovering various evidence and narcotics. Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway, he added.
According to Niaz Mehedi, 38 people were arrested by the Ramna Division, 38 by Lalbagh, 64 by Wari, 83 by Motijheel, 80 by Tejgaon, 90 by Mirpur, 33 by Gulshan, 34 by Uttara and five by the Detective Branch.
During the raids, police recovered a locally made one-shooter gun, a cartridge, two knives, 50kg of cannabis, 299 yaba tablets, 23 bottles of foreign liquor, a pickup truck, 11 mobile phones, a steel rod, five wooden stamps, two bottle caps, some fuel paper, Tk4,500 in cash and rescued one victim.
