DHAKA: The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has strongly condemned the attack and vandalism at the studio of content creator Salman Muqtadir, saying the incident cannot be treated lightly.

In a joint statement on Sunday, AB Party Senior Vice Chairman Wahab Minar and General Secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad expressed concern over the incident involving Muqtadir, a prominent figure of the July mass uprising.

Salman Muqtadir alleged that his studio at New Greeny Properties near ECB Square in the capital was attacked and vandalized on Saturday night over demands for extortion. He later shared a video of the vandalism on his verified Facebook page.

The AB Party leaders said the incident was not simply an isolated criminal act but raised serious questions about the country’s law-and-order situation.

They questioned how ordinary citizens could feel secure if armed criminals openly carry out such acts over extortion demands, particularly in the capital. They also raised concerns about the capacity and accountability of the institutions responsible for maintaining law and order.

The statement said the July mass uprising was driven by public aspirations to end fear, land grabbing, extortion and political violence. The leaders said that if similar forms of coercion and violence return under new identities after the movement, it would amount to a betrayal of public expectations.

The AB Party leaders urged the authorities to investigate the allegations and arrest the accused promptly. They also said criminals should not be allowed to evade justice because of their political affiliations.
